Who is Harris Syn?
Born in Surabaya on 6 September 1988, I am the eldest of two brothers. I’m also a newlywed. My hobby is travelling, and I really love hiking and camping.
How did your interest in photography begin?
I’m very lucky because I came from a family of artists. My father really loves and is an expert in some forms of art, especially painting. Not unlike him, I’m really into design. When I was playing around with Instagram, my photography instinct came out. I used to take pictures with iPhone, and after learning about aesthetics and compositions, I decided to hone my photography techniques by purchasing my first camera back in the early 2013.
What is the primary object that you always love to capture?
I never have a specific object to photograph. Everything around me is my objects.
I’d rather take something that may look ordinary to the naked eye and turn it into something spectacular in the pictures. I think everything is worth capturing. I really love finding new things; I have a thirst for them, and it’s the one that keeps me going.
Tell us a bit about Mount Prau. I think Mount Prau is amazing and I definitely want to come back to visit it again. From the top to the foot of the mountain; the beauty is just endless. Indonesia certainly has a great number of beautiful places to visit.
What do you do for living?
I work as a Visual Content Specialist at the Olrange Exquisite Digital Marketing Agency. I’m also a freelance photographer.
Any exciting plans for you in the near future?
No big plans for now. I just want to further learn about and explore photography. I also want to travel to more places, both in Indonesia and other places. It seems that 2015 is a year of travelling for me (laughs).
Do you have any quotes which inspire you?
FEAR (Face Everything And Recover). I got it tattooed on my chest. It’s actually very simple, but I really love it because it would motivate me everytime I fall or when I have a big problem.
What can you tell us about your instagram feed?
It’s a documentation of my life.
What has changed after you started using Instagram?
There are a lot of opportunities and other positive outcomes that I get from Instagram. It inspires me and helps improving my creativity, and it introduces me to new friends from Indonesia and other countries. And this is a bit weird, but I just got married to someone whom I met on Instagram, (laughs).
