“Kota Tua bisa menjadi permatanya kota Jakarta”—Kota Tua can be the jewel in Jakarta’s crown—Mr. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama
This year, The first Kota Tua Creative Festival (KTCF) held at the historic site of Kota Tua, this festival is inspired by the various urban forms and the dynamics of social spaces that have occurred in the capital city for hundreds of years. This festival was also held to celebrate Jakarta’s anniversary held annually on 22 June.
The festival involved the history-lovers community, train enthusiasts, and street artists; as well as a special presentation by Abang None Jakarta. Music, as part of Indonesia’s creative economy, also took the stage in this festival, featuring some of Indonesia’s most talented young artists, who have enriched our musical heritage. The festival introduced works by young designers and other communities, as well as a variety of local culinary delights.
Kota Tua Creative Festival is a pilot project of Creative Public Spaces Program, an enterprise which initiates the creation of temporary and permanent physical public spaces in the city.
